Our company founder, Christian Gemperlein, originally built the wheel as a one-off for his thesis project. Today, the BITURBO stands for a unique history.
On July 7, 2011, Christian Gemperlein founded Bike Ahead. Today, 15 years later, our company is one of the world’s most renowned manufacturers of carbon parts. Our product portfolio includes wheelsets, components, and complete bikes. We’re celebrating this anniversary with THE SUPERFAST Edition 15, a special model limited to 15 units.
This sporty gravel bike uniquely combines lightweight construction, functionality, and design language. Christian Gemperlein personally created this special model. Its design reflects milestones from 15 years of company history.
Take, for example, the 3K weave look of the early BITURBO wheels. The Bike Ahead arrows, which symbolize our drive to move forward in innovation and technology. Or the Acid Green of the 6.8-kilo project bike that caused a sensation at the 2014 Eurobike trade show.

THE SUPERFAST combines custom manufacturing with mass production. Customers can choose many of the details themselves. An innovative modular system makes this possible. The bike stands out from the competition in many ways. Weighing less than 7 kilograms in its lightest configuration in size M, THE SUPERFAST ranks among the lightest gravel bikes in the world.
The frame is manufactured in a single piece using monocoque construction. This ensures optimal force transfer through the carbon fibers and thus offers the best riding characteristics. Every detail is optimized, from the cockpit, which can be ordered with custom geometry in addition to standard dimensions, all the way down to the bottle cage screws made of hollow-drilled titanium, weighing just 1.06 grams.
The color combination of black and acid green symbolizes racing. The paint job is meticulously hand-applied by one of Germany’s top bicycle painters. The elegant carbon surface shimmers through the transparent areas. The color transitions are accented with small Bike Ahead logos. The anniversary logo is featured on the rear triangle.
The BITURBO Gravel Aero wheels are painted to match. Instead of the typical UD carbon, the top layer consists of a 3K woven layer – a tribute to the first BITURBO series from 2011. The Bike Ahead Composites lettering, along with the anniversary logo, is painted in Acid Green. Schwalbe Thunder Burt 2,1 tires open the door to limitless gravel adventures.
THE SUPERFAST Edition 15 is crowned by a THE HYPERSADDLE in an anniversary design. The cockpit, featuring Acid Green lettering, fits perfectly into the overall concept.
THE SUPERFAST Edition 15 is available exclusively as a complete bike. The bike is equipped with a SRAM Red EXPL 1x13 groupset, including a power meter.
Each THE SUPERFAST Edition 15 is handed over to its owner during an exclusive factory tour led by Christian Gemperlein. To ensure the bike fits perfectly, a bike fitting is included in the purchase price. Also included is a high-quality book detailing the history of THE SUPERFAST. The book has 80 pages and features numerous photos.
